Residual Light
Photography | Art Direction
Shot on 35mm film during a period of travel across Morocco, this project explores moments of pause within movement. Rather than documenting specific places, the work focuses on transitions, spaces where presence, light, and time quietly intersect.
The photographs observe everyday environments through a restrained and observational approach. Human figures appear intermittently, often distant or reduced to silhouettes, allowing architecture, landscape, and light to carry the narrative. These elements form a visual rhythm built around distance, scale, and stillness.
Working with analog photography is central to the project. Grain, tonal softness, and minor imperfections are embraced as part of the image’s materiality, reinforcing a sense of time and physical presence. Light is treated as a residual element, settling on surfaces and shaping space rather than performing as spectacle.
The series exists between documentation and memory, proposing a slower way of seeing. One that values subtlety, accumulation, and moments where nothing seems to happen.
